After earning Bachelors and Masters degrees at Norway’s University of Trondheim, Marie-Antoinette Sossou (PhD ’03) returned to her homeland as a social work lecturer at the University of Ghana. She also served as a consultant for the country’s United Nations refugee agency and was a Senior Repatriation Assistant for the International Organization for Migration. Today, Sossou shares her broad international perspectives with students at the University of Kentucky, where she’s an Associate Professor in the College of Social Work and a Faculty Affiliate in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies. A member of the University’s International Advisory Council, Committee on International Students and Internationalization Task-Force, Sossou also chairs the International Students Recruitment Sub-committee. Her many scholarly publications include a 2008 book on gender inequality in Ghana.
