A graduate of GSSW’s Four Corners MSW program, Crystal Harris (MSW ’06) calls upon many of her new clinical and community practice skills in her dual professional roles as a medical social worker at Durango, Colorado’s Centura Home Health and Hospice, and as Coordinator of the LaPlata Unity Project. Funded by the Colorado Trust, the Unity Project is a multicultural community-building collaborative that seeks to raise awareness regarding immigrant integration issues and create a base of supportive providers and businesses. The Project also promotes language acquisition for various immigrant populations, organizes opportunities for community engagement and leadership, and disseminates a community resource list for immigrants and other newcomers to the area. Harris previously served as Coordinator of the Del Alma-Durango Educational Alliance for Multicultural Achievement.
