Marcie Lazzari, ‘PhD ’90

Marceline “Marcie” Lazzari (PhD ’90), University of Washington Tacoma Professor, Graduate Program Director and Faculty Assembly Chair, says feminist principles have always guided her teaching and research efforts. She was Founding Director of the UWT social work program and helped launch its BASW program in 2002. Previously, she chaired the Social Work Department at the University of Southern Colorado. On the national stage, Lazzari is the former Co-Chair of CSWE’s Commission on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education, chaired the organization’s Commission for Diversity and Social and Economic Justice for three years, served as an accreditation site visitor and was National Coordinator of the Association for Women in Social Work for seven years. The author of numerous scholarly publications and research reports, Lazzari is also a frequent presenter at national conferences.
