Her 2006 Denver Public Schools Certificate of Recognition perhaps says it best: Irma Anthony (PhD ’96) is “known and recognized throughout the Denver community for her tireless work in encouraging students to succeed” and her “leadership motivates staff members to reach their potential in providing high quality services.” A DPS social worker for 35 years beginning in 1973, Anthony served as Manager of Social Work Services between 2001 and 2008. Currently, she teaches social work courses in the BSW program at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Anthony’s community service includes memberships on the Denver Department of Human Services Family and Children’s Advisory Board, the Judi’s House Community Board of Directors, the Pupil Assistance Fund Board of Directors and GSSW’s Advisory Council on Racial Diversity (ACORD). Most recently, Anthony was elected president of NASW’s Colorado Chapter.
