The recipient of a national YWCA scholarship when she was an MSW student, (Sylvia) Lynne Reyburn (MSW ’74) worked full-time at Denver’s YWCA, only to see her position eliminated a year after graduation. Undeterred, Reyburn became Associate Executive Director of the YWCA in Charlotte, North Carolina, then served as Executive Director/CEO for a decade. She established the city’s first after-school program for children and youth, oversaw construction of a state-of-the-art child development center and, as the first female Executive Director to lead the YWCA’s annual United Way campaign, surpassed its fundraising goal by 30%. Reyburn’s exceptional fundraising success continued another 18 years, first as Campaign Manager for United Way of Central Carolinas, then as Vice President and Director of Donor Relations at Holy Angels, Inc., a residential program for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
