A trauma specialist at The Empowerment Program in Denver, Joycee Kennedy (MSW ’78), BCD, LCSW is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. With a community mental health career spanning 25 years, she has presented at the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Conference and at the Colorado Child and Adolescent Mental Health Conference. Her publications include a co-authored book on adolescent trauma recovery, and she helped create an award-winning video on adolescent recovery from child abuse. As a member of an international delegation to South Africa in 1996, Kennedy witnessed the Dedication Service of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. She received GSSW’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1999 and the Ethnic Minorities Council Community Service Award in 1994.
