To honor the retirement of The Colorado Trust’s President and CEO, Irene M. Ibarra (MSW ’78), JD, MPA, some 20 foundation leaders and colleagues initiated a Proclamation from the City and County of Denver declaring July 13, 2010, as “Irene M. Ibarra Day.” It was a fitting tribute to a woman who has devoted her career to improving health for low-income children, families and individuals, and to developing policy solutions for complex health problems. Previously, Ibarra served as Executive Vice President of The California Endowment, directed an effort to provide health coverage for all Los Angeles County children and youth, and was CEO of a nonprofit health plan. In Colorado, she served as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Social Services and as Deputy Manager for the Denver Department of Social Services.
